What’S The Timeline For Estate Planning?

When is the best time to start planning your estate? The answer is: now. Most people wouldn’t think of planning their estates when they are young, but it doesn’t matter what point you’re at in your life, you can plan your estate.

As we go through life’s ever-changing situations it’s a good rule of thumb to revisit your estate planning with your attorney and adjust it as needed. There are many circumstances in life that affect our estates.

As an Ocala attorney specializing in probateestate planning, and real estate, Stanley Plappert is happy to share this helpful information with our clients and readers of this blog.

Life Events That Affect Your Estate Include:

  • Marriage
  • Birth of first child
  • Custodian named in your will becomes unavailable
  • Property purchase
  • Starting your own business
  • Receive an inheritance
  • Separation or divorce
  • Subsequent marriage
  • Birth of first grandchild
  • Poor health
  • Move to another state
  • Long -term committed relationship
  • Death of a spouse

Even if you already have your estate planned, you should revisit it periodically. There are many legal aspects to estate planning and it’s always a good idea to discuss life events with your attorney. Especially, if you have experienced any of the life events listed above, your attorney can advise you if any updates should be made to your estate.

If you need help planning or reviewing your existing estate plan, don’t hesitate to contact Stanley Plappert. He doesn’t charge for consultations; he will give you an overview of your issue. Ocala office hours are 8:30 AM to 5 PM., Monday through Friday.
